The Great Outdoors

I ventured out to the back yard today for my outdoor time. We have lots of trees and green grass in our back yard. I like the trees, but I'm not so sure about the grass. It's prickly and feels weird on my skin so I decided I'd better stay on my blanket.

Mommy got all excited about the video of me swinging and forgot to post these awesome photos of me at the park yesterday. Check out my supreme cuteness:

Just a Walk in the Park

This morning mommy and I went for a stroll down to the neighborhood park. I modeled my new hat for everyone along the way --- even the German Shepherd that always barks at us. When we got to the park, I got to swing, and this time I really liked it. I also rode the white bouncy horse and slid down the slide (with Mommy's help).

Here's a video of me swinging:

I know this video is fuzzy. I have my best people working on it so hopefully the next one will be better.

A Visit from MaMa and PaPa

Saturday my MaMa and PaPa came to visit me from Kansas City. MaMa sang silly songs to me and kept saying how "pretty" I am and how "nice" our new house is. Pretty. Nice. Pretty. Nice. Whew! It wore me out. Daddy shared some of his cheesecake with me at lunch and boy was it good. I think cheesecake might be better that Cheerios or graham crackers. Here is a photo of me and MaMa and Papa.

Masterpiece #3: Green and Orange

I made this lovely drawing today and taught Mommy a thing or two about art. As you can see, her purple circle and red square just don't do anything for this drawing. They lack the expressive line quality and energy that my lines do. I was feeling inspired so I added some drool. I think it gives a nod to Jackson Pollack's abstract expressionism, don't you think?

[Note from Mommy: And, if you'll look closely, you can see Maddie was quite fond of the green crayon today. I had to pry it from her mouth! Ick!]

Nine-Month Check-Up (and no shots!)

Hey everyone! Today was my nine-month check-up, and thankfully there were no shots involved. So here are my new numbers:

Height: 28.25 inches (89th percentile)
Weight: 17 lbs. 4 oz. (30th percentile)
Head Circumference: 45.5 something-or-others (cm?) (92th percentile)

So basically I'm fairly tall, skinny and have a big head. This poses a challenge for Mommy because she says she can't find pants that are long enough and will actually stay up. Maybe I just need some suspenders. Who knows.

I did get some big girl jammies the other day. They're really cool. They actually came in two pieces instead of those baby jammies that are only one piece. And even better, they also come in colors other than pink! I was kind of getting tired of the pink stuff.

Here I am modeling my jammies and my new "stand-up" skills.

I'll be walking in no time at all. Watch out kitties! Here I come.

Back to regular programming...

Hello dear readers. Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but I've been super busy. Well, that and Mommy has been way too busy to post. So what have I been up to lately? Well, let's see...

We went on a 24-hour vacation to Kansas City in July and I got to take my first swim in the swimming pool at the hotel. Mom and Dad bought me this cool crab to float around in and now I don't want to go to the pool with "Crabby." I'm already a pretty good kicker in the water. Dad thinks I might be the next Michael Phelps. I told Daddy that was silly. I'm not a boy. I'll be the next Natalie Coughlin or Dara Torres. The only problem is I don't think they allow inflatable crabs in the Olympics.

Here I am in my pretty swimming suit. I picked it out myself. Crabby is in the background.

We also went to the Kansas City Zoo on our vacation. Here I am in the stroller with paci. I watched the seals do tricks in the water, but after that I decided to take a nap while Mommy and Daddy pushed me around the zoo.

My Aunt Chelsea came for a visit and watched me while Mommy caught up on her work. We had a great time. Aunt Chelsea got me hooked on country music videos and MTV. I had so much fun that I didn't want to go back to Mommy and Daddy in the evenings.

I've also been having lots of fun reeking havoc in my house. Here I am in my Bumbo unrolling a whole role of paper towels. I have also pulled the kitties' fur a few times.

Speaking of kitties, it's a lot easier for me to catch them these days because, guess what? I. CAN. CRAWL. That's right. I'm a lot faster and always have my eye on Gooseyard and Callie. Getting kitties is my business now. I also have found their mousies on the floor and Mommy found me the other morning with one in my mouth --- just like Callie. I figure if Callie can play with my toys then I should be able to play with hers.

In other big news, I have a new house! We moved and in between houses stayed in this nice hotel. I got to swim in the pool with Daddy and Crabby, and made friends with a nice lady named Maria in the dining room each morning. She's a pretty cool lady. She even sang happy birthday to me on my 9 month birthday.

I'm settling in to the new house pretty well. Mommy and I spend a lot of time together going for walks, swinging in the swings on the neighborhood playground, going to the library, playing with bubbles in the new back yard, drawing masterpieces with my new crayons and having drumming concerts (empty pasta boxes make great drums).

Well that's all for now. Seeya later alligators.
