Nuking It Up

Maddie has had a long-standing love for one and only one brand of pacifier -- the green "Soothie." Unfortunately this type of pacifier has one big downside. Because of the way it is constructed there isn't a good way to clip it on to her clothing so that when she spits it out it doesn't fall on the floor. I did purchase a clip made especially for this particular passie, but it's huge and heavy and covers part of her face. Not good. So on a whim I decided to offer her the Nuk just to see if she had a change of heart, and what do you know? She took to it like it was the best passie ever! And the Nuk doesn't fall out nearly as much as the Soothie which makes Mommy and Daddy very, very happy.

Hopefully the Nuk will be much more daycare center-friendly too since Maddie will be starting daycare in a week or so. It's got me a little sad, but I know it will probably harder for me than for her. She'll probably thrive in a new environment with new things to look at. She got quite angry with me yesterday for moving her when she was busy looking at something from her blanket on the living room floor. I'm not quite sure what was so interesting, but whatever it was, it was most definitely worth an angry cry to let me know I had messed up. ;)

LOL!! Tessa absolutely would NOT take a pacifier, so she became one of those dreaded thumbsuckers, of course. Gotta tell ya, even though everyone gives us heck for it, I'm secretly glad...I did not want to chase that thing around. By the way, if you'd like to try some other brands, I think we have like one of each kind ever made. Hah! I finally gave them all to her about a month ago as toys. She sometimes chews on the rings now. Go figure. Ever once in a while, I'll pop one in her month. She puts on a sheepish grin and then spits it out. Then, we both laugh!! So much fun!
